A new Will Oldham release is usually something worth spending time with, such is the case with Lie Down In The Light. A host of folks join Will on this release, most notably, Ashley Webber (sister of Amber Webber of Black Mountain/Lightning Dust fame). Contemplation & scrutiny are still abound in Will’s lyrics, but a dash of Nashville players illuminate some sneakily bright compositions along with the multi-instrumental talents of Shahzad Izmaily, who works percussion, piano, guitar & banjo among other things. Again, a record to cozy up with at home, possibly with some wine?
